Collaborating with students from University of the Arts London and the Danish School of Media and Journalism, Playable Cities asked designers to undertake a remote four-day design sprint to solve urban issues through fun and engaging interactivity.
Through this sprint, I conceptualised the idea of CommuniTrees, an interactive biodesign concept that would encourage urban residents to reap the benefits of green spaces, encourage a sense of community and increase safety through the lighting of public spaces. This concept was heavily influenced by Melbourne’s own issues with safety in urban areas following the murder of Eurydice Dixon in Princes Park, and my desire to help reclaim city parks as safe nighttime spaces for all.
